A note from the President The board of the OAPI met at its regular scheduled meeting Nov. 18th. Naturally the 2009 conference was the main topic. Conference plans are moving ahead at great speed. All instructors and speakers are already committed and it appears as though we will have a great conference. Several tabletops are paid for and hopefully all will be filled in the next month or so. How will this conference compare to ones in the past? If you do not attend you will have to rely on someone else’s opinion, so make plans now for Feb. 23, 24 and 25 at the Dublin Embassy Suites. Once again we will have early registration on Sunday evening Feb. 22. Also Ralph Reeb will continue what I am sure will become a popular almost famous code discussion that evening. Also an item of discussion was a possible change in direction for the organization. One which would be geared more toward training, especially with some of the new inspectors which are coming along. Hopefully this will enable us to have a larger membership. Our mission statement also came under discussion and possibly this may have to be changed. Once again response from all parts of the State held little hope for construction to be on the upswing next year. However my personal opinion is they have been wrong before and hopefully they will be wrong this time. It is my hope you have a happy holiday season followed by a great year in 2009. We look forward to seeing you at our 51st Conference. Tom Spayth |
